The Maldives has strongly condemns the extensive airstrikes carried out by Israel across the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
Following the expiration of the initial stage of a ceasefire agreement established between Israel and Hamas earlier in January this year, Israel has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes on Gaza. The airstrikes have led to the loss of over 400 Palestinian lives, including many innocent children.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Maldivian government described the assault, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, as a flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement, as well as international human rights law and international humanitarian law.
The Maldives called on the international community to take immediate action to halt the escalation of violence, protect innocent civilians and ensure that Israel is held accountable for its actions.
The Maldives reiterated its unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its Capital.
The Maldives has long been a staunch advocate for the rights of Palestinians, supporting their cause on the international stage. The Maldives has consistently called to cease the attacks on Gaza on various platforms.
