India-Maldives Film Festival kicks off
The Festival was inaugurated by Maldivian Youth Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamal and Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Rajeev Sahare. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Maleeh thanked India for their friendship and assistance; while High Commissioner Rajeev Sahare provided assurances that ties between the countries would never unravel, and that India would always provide Maldives the needed assistance. During the ceremony, Indian High Commission donated USD 1,000 (MVR 15,420) to Maldives Film Association to provide assistance for the activities planned by the association for 2015. The screen was graced with Indian comedy movie ‘Three Idiots’, after Indian Cultural Center entertained those presents with their performances. The Film Festival – one of the many “Love for Bollywood” events organized by Indian High Commission was attended by top High Commission officials as well as Maldivian celebrities. India-Maldives Festival is to continue until Thursday night and will feature two Maldivian movies in addition to popular Indian movies. Film Festival on Wednesday night will feature Maldivian movie “Hulhudhaan” at 8 pm, and popular Indian movie “Dhilvaale Dhulhaniya Leyjayenge” at 9pm; while internationally acclaimed Maldivian movie “Ingili” and Indian movie superstar Amitabh Bachan’s “Sholey” will be featured Thursday night. The end of Maldives-India Film Festival will not mark the end of Bollywood entertainment, with a big Bollywood Show in the plans for Saturday night. The show, which is to be held at Alimas Carnival will feature the performances of famous Indian dance company Ferriswheel Entertainment. The entrance fee for the show is MVR 50.
