ID Card Printing Services Now Available in 23 Islands, Confirms DNR

The Department of National Registration (DNR) has announced that ID card printing services are now operational in 23 islands across the Maldives, marking a major step forward in decentralizing vital public services.
The update was shared on social media as part of the official announcement of service commencement at the Ha. Hoarafushi Council.
According to DNR, the initiative aims to make ID card services, critical for accessing various public and private sector services, available in every atoll by the end of 2025. The department also confirmed that preparations are underway to extend the service to countries frequently visited by Maldivians, including Sri Lanka, India, and the United Kingdom.
Malaysia became the first overseas location to offer Maldivian ID card services. Within the Maldives, the initiative began in November 2024, with GA. Villingili is the first location outside Malé to launch ID card printing services.
The expansion aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to decentralize ID card and passport services and bring them closer to citizens nationwide and abroad.
