Met Office Issues White Alert for Widespread Rain and Strong Winds Across Maldives

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a white alert for islands stretching from Haa Alif Atoll to Alif Dhaal Atoll, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected to persist until 4:30 PM today.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms are likely in several parts of the country over the next 24 hours, with winds blowing from the south and southwest at speeds between 5 to 15 miles per hour. Gusts are expected to reach up to 40 miles per hour during squalls.
The Met Office has also cautioned the public about possible tidal effects during high tide periods, which could compound the impact of the adverse weather.
All seafarers and those traveling by sea are strongly advised to remain vigilant, monitor weather updates, and take necessary precautions.
This advisory follows a series of weather warnings issued in recent weeks as the southwest monsoon continues to bring unstable weather across the country.
