The opposition don’t have a mind to respond to the statements released by Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon regarding the situation in Maldives، says the Chair of MDP’s Foreign Relations Committee، Abdulla Shahid.
MP for Medhuhenveyru، Abdulla Shahid said they do not wish to be a party to repeatedly respond to Minister Dunya’s statements، while her statements are directly hit back by the foreign entities.
Abdulla Shahid had departed on Wednesday night to meet with foreign diplomats to speak with them regarding the situation in Maldives after the arrest of the former President Mohamed Nasheed on Monday.
Highlighting and questioning the motives of Government’s ‘unorthodox’ actions against the people، former Speaker of the Majlis said several foreign countries and organizations have already shown their deep concerns over the situation in Maldives.
In addition، MP Shahid said they were relaying the messages to the foreign pargties and will be informing more countries associated with Maldives.
The short trip of MP Shahid، which will be concluded before February 27، was also participated by JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim، MP Abdulla Riyaz، Male’ City Mayor Mohamed Shihab، Deputy Leader of JP Hussain Rasheed Hassan.
