Tourism Ministry has stated that achieving a tourist arrival rate of 1.4 million tourists is the aim of the ministry for this year.
Tourism ministry stated that the aim for 2014 was 1.2 million and in 2014 about 12048857 tourists visited Maldives.
With 1 million tourists arrival in the year 2013, the expected arrival rate for the year 2014 was 1.2 million. Therefore this is an increase of 2 lakh tourists.
Chinese market remains as the leading market of tourist arrival for Maldivian tourism industry.
With the increase in local tourism, tourist arrival was expected to increase because of the cheap rates.
