Hulhumale’ to ban motorized vessels at channel between two phases

The use of motorized vessels is set to be banned at the channel between Hulhumale’ Phase I and Phase II, a popular swimming spot.
In a statement on Monday, the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) noted that the location is a popular swimming and recreation spot for a large number of children and adults.
The HDC also said that the corporation also plans on conducting a coral planting program in the area.

The corporation announced that it has therefore decided to impose a ban on motorized vessels in the area for the safety of the people who go swimming in the area, as well as to prevent any hinderance to the coral planting program.
The ban is set to kick in on Friday.
The channel between Hulhumale’ Phase I and Phase II is also used for watersports activities, including jet skis and banana boat rides.
