Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has called out for religious scholars not to support or take part in the upcoming MDP-JP led rally event slated for 27th February in order to “uphold and protect the constitution of Maldives”.
Shaheem relayed this message over a tweet he posted on the social platform Twitter، which is mainly used as a political platform in Maldives.

He had also asserted that current government has conducted various religious events as well.
Meanwhile MDP and JP are openly inviting citizens to take part in the upcoming 27th February rally، against current PPM-led government.
Adaalath party had also expressed their opinion over former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim’s arrest، showing their criticism for the act while condemning arrest of MDP-JP members during recent altercations ignited over Nasheed’s arrest.
However they remained subtle about calling out to citizens to participate in the upcoming rally.
