Should produce food on our own to ensure absence of chemicals in food

Producing food on our own is something very beneficial and productive. Producing food without depending on someone else has both financial and health benefits.
Since these days, farmers use a lot of fertilizers to grow crops, various health problems occur when we consume them. Let’s take kohlrabi as an example. Farmers use various chemicals to enlarge the size of the leaves. Because of this the leaves will dissolve in water easily. Natural leaves will not dissolve like this in water.
In recent times, number of kids with autism are increasing in Maldives. Even cancer is increasing. The causes has not yet been identified. No significant research has been done. However some researches show that some of the chemicals imported to Maldives leads to cancer. But we cannot only blame the chemicals for these diseases.
Hence, it is necessary to ensure that the food we eat are safe to consume. One thing we can do is to grow some products at home. That way, we can ensure that it does not contain any chemicals. People living in Hulhumale’ has shown that growing fruits and vegetables can not only be done on large land plots. People living in flats are also growing many products successfully.
