The number of international airlines operating scheduled flights to the Maldives rose during the first four months of this year, according to the Maldives Monetary Authority’s (MMA) latest Monthly Statistics Report.
A total of 5,809 scheduled international flights were recorded between January and April 2025, reflecting a 6.4% increase compared to 5,378 flights during the same period last year.
Tourist arrivals have also seen a notable rise. More than 800,000 tourists visited the Maldives in the first four months of 2025, up from 700,000 during the same period in 2024.
In contrast, general flights—non-scheduled or charter flights—declined slightly, with 555 arriving in the country compared to 604 last year.
The Maldives’ operational tourism bed capacity also increased marginally by 0.8%, now standing at 61,919 beds.
In tandem with the tourism and aviation sector's growth, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) posted a record profit of MVR 1 billion last year, as per its audit report. This represents an 18% year-on-year increase, or approximately MVR 192 million more than the previous year.
The continued increase in flights and tourist arrivals signals a strong start for the Maldivian tourism and aviation sectors in 2025.
