Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim has said that he was not dismissed from the leadership of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
Minister Nazim made this remark while the LGA board yesterday announced the dismissal of him from its leadership.
He said that the stories of his dismissal from Local Government Authority (LGA) are false.
According to the members of the LGA who held a meeting yesterday, President and the Vice President was removed from their post, after a vote of no confidence was passed against them. The vote was put forward by former Vice President of LGA Shujaau Hussain, who is a current board member of the authority.
However, Minister Nazim said that a vote of no confidence could not be held in such a way. According to the Minster, the vote was held without informing most of the board members.
The Minister stated that Shujaau had been insisting to go forward with the vote of no confidence, since there is a disciplinary issue being investigated currently regarding him. He alleged that Shujau’s intentions were to obstruct the investigation.
Minister Nazim stated that Shujaau had been informed that the vote of no confidence could not be continued until the investigation was complete and added that the case has now been submitted to the parliament.
