Discover Airlines has resumed flights between Velana International Airport (VIA) and Frankfurt, restoring a key air link between the Maldives and Germany.
The return of the seasonal service was marked by a ceremony at VIA, where the airline’s check-in counters were officially opened with a ribbon-cutting. Discover Airlines will operate two weekly flights on the Frankfurt–Malé route and will operate from the airport’s new terminal.
The airline operates seasonal services to the Maldives, primarily serving the European market. The resumption of the Frankfurt route is expected to contribute to continued growth in arrivals from Europe, particularly from Germany and the United Kingdom.
Germany and the United Kingdom currently rank as the third and fourth largest source markets for the Maldives this year, accounting for more than 300,000 tourist arrivals combined.
Tourism officials expect the return of Discover Airlines’ Frankfurt service to further strengthen connectivity with key European markets and support demand during the peak travel season.
