NSPA spent MVR 12.4 million on therapy in November; behavioral care tops list

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) spent MVR 12.4 million on therapeutic services for children and people with disabilities last month, according to official statistics.  
A total of 359 individuals received treatment under NSPA’s disability therapy programme in November. Of these, 252 were male and 107 were female.  
Behavioral therapy accounted for the highest expenditure, with MVR 3.5 million spent, continuing a trend where this therapy type receives the most funding.  
Breakdown of other therapy expenditures:
Occupational therapy: MVR 3.49 million  
Speech therapy: MVR 3.27 million  
Educational therapy: MVR 1.88 million  
Physiotherapy: MVR 118,400  
Psychotherapy: MVR 99,300  
Early intervention: MVR 9,000  
In addition, MVR 435,120 was spent on therapeutic treatment for 58 individuals under NSPA’s medical assistance programme.

As of last month, 14,938 individuals were registered in the national disability registry. This includes:
5,050 children under 18  
7,613 individuals aged 18 to 64  
2,275 individuals aged 65 and above  
Registry breakdown by disability type:
Physical disabilities: 4,193  
Various disabilities: 3,372  
Mental disabilities: 1,871  
Children and individuals with mental disabilities: 2,059  
NSPA continues to expand therapeutic support and maintain detailed tracking of disability demographics to guide policy and service delivery.
