Government Invites Investors for Resort Development in Hankede and Nalandhoo

The government is seeking investors to develop tourist resorts in Hankede, Addu City and Nalandhoo, Shaviyani Atoll.
In an announcement, the Ministry of Tourism and Environment stated that the Hankede in Addu City will be developed as an integrated tourist resort under the Regulations on the Submission of Proposals for the Leasing of Islands, Land and Lagoons for Tourism Purposes. The project will develop the resort with a minimum capacity of 1,000 beds.
Interested parties wishing to develop the integrated resort in Hankede have been requested to contact the Ministry via email for further details.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced plans to launch a new tourism venue in Hankede on 1 October. To expedite this initiative, the President repealed the designation of Hankede as a tourism real estate development project zone, which had been leased to the Maldives Fund Management Corporation under a Presidential Decree issued on 2 December 2021.
Following this decision, Hankede was placed under the Ministry of Tourism and Environment for its dedicated development as a tourism destination.
Meanwhile, the Ministry has opened investment opportunities for the development of Nalandhoo. Interested parties may submit bids until 10:00 am on 12 November, while the tender documents for the project will be available from the reception of the Ministry from Tuesday until 10 November.
