Minister of Defense and National Security Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim has said that there are individuals in Maldives having a mentality to disturb the stability of the country and wanting to create chaos.
Inaugurating the 9th South Asian Regional Summit of the combat against acts of terrorism at Bandos Island Resort on Sunday، Minister Nazim said there are mindsets within Maldives which seeks to disrupt the peace and stability of the country.
He said the mentioned sets of mentalities are a threat to the country’s security.
“There are mindsets within Maldives wanting to disrupt the peace and stability. It’s a very dangerous way of thinking. These mentalities are based on extreme ideologies. These  sets of extreme ideologies contradicts with our modest ethics of Islam.” Minister Nazim said.
Nazim said there is a fear extremism being provoked in Maldives due to the increased extreme ideologies in other countries.

Furthermore، he  requested the participants of the summit to hold discussions on ways to improve the  Judiciary and Law Enforcement systems of Maldives.
The summit is the ninth of it’s kind in South Asia Region، organized by the United Nations. Experts in the field from America also participated in the summit along with South Asian officials.
