Villa Air has stated that the safety of their passengers is their top priority.
The company stated that Flyme passenger flight travelling to Dharavandhoo made an emergency landing, in accordance to international guidelines in such a situation and to safeguard the passengers, at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport at 11:49pm on Saturday after the pilot received a bomb threat.
Villa-Air stated that as procedure, the national protocol for such states of emergencies was followed whereby the plane, under its instructions landed in INIA.
Meanwhile, in a statement released by MNDF, they stated that no dangerous objects were found on the Villa-Air Flyme plane which had to make an emergency landing last night due to a bomb threat warning.
According to the statement issued by Villa Air, there were ten foreigners and one Maldivian on the flight in addition to three crew members.
The flight VQA 649 which departed INIA at 11:04 p.m. scheduled to arrive in B. Dharavandhoo, made a diversion to land again in INIA at 11:49 p.m. Although the airport closed briefly for security measures, it was opened again at 1:54 a.m.
