A 40-year-old man arrested on charges of possessing a sharp object claimed he had forgotten a knife in his pocket when he hurried to meet a friend for coffee.
The man was stopped by the police after they received a tip-off that he might be planning to commit an assault.
The police observed him driving recklessly and stopped his vehicle. A search revealed a knife in his possession.
According to the court order, the man said that he had been at home when a friend unexpectedly asked him to come for coffee. In his rush to leave, he said he had forgotten about the knife and left it in his pocket.
Police said that the man had a history of possession of sharp objects.
Criminal Court ordered the man to be remanded in custody for seven days.
