Broadcom urges to broadcast content that does not violate children's dignity

Broadcasting Commission of Maldives today has advised to broadcast content that does not damage children's reputation and dignity.
The commission issued a circular asking broadcasters to comply with the regulations and guidelines.
Among them, BroadCom asked for exercise caution in disseminating information about children.
“In particular, broadcasters are reminded to ensure that they do not violate the dignity and reputation of children in accordance with the regulations of the ‘Guidelines for the Protection of Children in Broadcasting’,” the statement said.
Broadcasting Commission has urged all licensed outlets to broadcast content that complies with Maldives' laws, regulations, general social standards and journalistic ethics.
The commission's order comes amid a controversy over remarks against President Dr Mohamed Muizzu's 16 year old son made during a demonstration held by MDP last week. The President's family has decided to sue MDP activist Mariyam Zubair (Mandhi), MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail and the party in the case.
