Foreign aid is sought considering the self sufficiency of Maldives- Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dunya Maumoon has said that the government seeks foreign aid to resolve the water crisis faced by the people living in Make’ due to the fire that broke out in the MWSC after considering the self sufficiency of Maldives.
In an interview to Miadhu Daily, Dunya said that the President has sought foreign aid to relieve the nation from the water crisis and friendly countries have pledged to provide emergency water supplies to the Maldives following the current water crisis.
Dunya noted that China has donated 5 lakh US dollars with the opening of the fund and other countries are also expected to be making donations for the fund.
“With the opening of the fund we have been also seeking financial aid. Financial aid is granted considering the gravity of the situation. 5 lakh US dollars from China has now been arranged,” she said.
Dunya said that no country considers the current crisis as a major crisis which may remain unresolved.
