The senior officials of the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and Jumhooree Part have met with the Home Minister، Umar Naseer.
The meeting was held at the office of Home Ministry at Velaanaage on Thursday morning.
MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed، MDP PG leader Ibrahim Mohamed Solih، JP Leader Qasim Ibrahim and Vice President Abdulla Riyaz participated in the meeting as opposition candidates.
After concluding the meeting، Qasim Ibrahim told the press that their discussions were productive and the opposition demands have been shared with Home Minister.
He further said Home Minister will share the details of their meeting to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed told the press their protests calling to release the ‘political detainees’ will not stop، and they are always open for discussions and negotiation.
Ali Waheed further said several talks were exchanged with Home Minister including many concerns of the opposition.
The Home Minister has stated yesterday that his meeting with the opposition is not a discussion held on behalf of the government and it is should not be viewed as a negotiation held between government and the oppositions.
