6th International Teachers Conference began in Kulhudhuffushi City

6th International Teachers Conference has been inaugurated by First Lady Madam Fazna Ahmed in Kulhudhuffushi City.
During the inauguration ceremony the Ministry of Education presented a special memento to Madam Fazna. Speaking on the occasion, Fazna expressed hope that by the time the teachers’ conference is over, a picture of the country’s future will be painted. It is also hoped that much of the knowledge about modern education will be disseminated among the participants.
The conference is held under the theme of “Current Perspectives and Future Directions”. Initially the conference was scheduled to be held last year, however was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The conference, which is held every two years, is the largest of its kind held in the Maldives by the National Institute of Education (NIE) for teachers. This year’s conference is expected to be attended by 250 people apart from local and foreign experts from the education sector.
The conference is aimed at establishing a culture of research among teachers working in schools and opening the Maldives to the international community.
Moreover, NIE hopes to create a platform for Maldivians and foreigners to share their work through the conference, and bring about positive changes in school education based on the scientific research and work proposed.
The first International Teachers Conference that was held in an atoll was held in Hithadhoo, Addu City in 2019.  It has been ten years since the International Teachers Conferences started.
