Home Ministry has stated that if the government is hijacked by the Islamic State (IS) as claimed by former President Mohamed Nasheed then he will be the first to be arrested.
Home Ministry made this remark in reply to a question asked by Miadhu Daily regarding the claim of former President Mohamed Nasheed that a gang group connected to IS is behind the disappearance of the journalist Ridwan.
A senior official of the Home Ministry stated that the former President has been known for his anti Islamic speeches and his attempts to tarnish the image of Maldives in the international community.
The official said that Nasheed is famous for this and therefore it is possible that the Islamic State have heard of this side of Nasheed. He added that if the government is hijacked by the Islamic State as alleged by Nasheed then Nasheed will be now definitely arrested by the government.
The official stated that Nasheed living freely even with all the anti-Islamic speeches he makes is evidence enough that the government has no influences from the Islamic State.
