"Direct flights from Germany will boost our Tourism" – MATI

The tourism in Maldives will receive significant developments after direct flight operation from Germany to Maldives commences، says Maldives Association for Tourism Industry (MATI).
During the ITB Fair currently being held in Germany، Europe’s giant، Lufthansa Airlines had stated they are to commence direct flight operations to Maldives.
Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa، Carl Ulrich said they will begin direct flights to Maldives in December this year، operating two scheduled flights per week.
MATI’s vice chairman، Champa Hussain Afeef told eTurbo News that Lufthansa had added Maldives to its network.
“Currently 90% of Europeans have to transit in Middle East before arriving in Maldives،” Champa Hussain said.
He further said with the commencing of direct flights of Lufthansa from Frankfurt، Germany، to Maldives، the amount of tourist arrivals will increase، bringing significant developments in Maldives tourism sector.
Lufthansa currently operates to 197 destinations in 78 countries، carrying the most Europeans all over the world، with a fleet of 280 airplanes.
