Bank of Maldives (BML) on Thursday signed two agreements with Alipay+ and Visit Maldives Corporation to strengthen digital payment solutions and promote Maldives as a leading travel destination.
One agreement will expand BML’s contactless QR payment services and integrate Alipay+ features into the BML Swipe app, offering greater convenience for customers and merchants.
In addition, BML, Alipay+ and Visit Maldives Corporation signed a tri‑party agreement to launch co‑branded tourism campaigns from 2026. The initiative aims to position Maldives as a preferred destination in Asian markets, support merchant enablement, and enhance visitor experiences.
BML CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef said the partnerships mark “a transformative step in advancing the Maldives’ digital payment ecosystem and amplifying its global visibility,” adding that the collaboration will deliver seamless payment experiences, energize the merchant network, and accelerate national economic growth.
