Maldives voices profound concern over escalating Middle East hostilities

The Maldives government has expressed profound concern over the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, calling for an immediate de-escalation and a return to dialogue.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said it was closely monitoring developments in the region and denounced attacks from all sides.
It urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and to act in accordance with international law, including their obligations under the United Nations Charter.
“The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be fully respected by all parties at all times,” the statement said.
The government reiterated its longstanding commitment to the peaceful settlement of disputes, emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy remain essential to restoring stability.
The Maldives also underscored the importance of collective international efforts to maintain both regional and global peace, warning that further escalation could have broader consequences beyond the immediate area of conflict.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions and renewed hostilities in parts of the Middle East, raising concerns within the international community about the risk of a wider regional conflict.
