State Revenue Grows by 7.8% as of September 2025

The Ministry of Finance has reported that the state collected MVR 26.3 billion in revenue and grants by September 09, 2025 — a 7.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to the Weekly Fiscal Development Report, tax revenue contributed MVR 20.5 billion, making up 78% of total state revenue. Several key areas showed significant growth:
- Green Tax revenue rose by 104.6%, driven by changes in tax rates
- Departure Tax collections increased by 57.9%
- Personal Income Tax revenue grew by 17.3%
- Airport Development Fee rose by 56.8%, largely due to a 9.7% increase in tourist arrivals, with over 1.5 million tourists visiting
In addition, revenues from land acquisition and conversion fees, lease period extension fees, and resort lease payments also recorded growth.
The report highlights that deposits to the Sovereign Development Fund (SDF) increased by 47.9%, reaching MVR 1.4 billion.
By early September, the state had received 66.1% of the total projected revenue and grants in the 2025 budget, while 51.7% of projected expenditure has been recorded so far.
