Former president of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed has once again been elected as Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s President.
Nasheed was elected for a second term as president in MDP's internal elections held Friday. Nasheed received 23,369 votes in his favour and 63 against him.
President's Office minister Mohamed Shifaz was re-elected as the Deputy President of MDP. Shifaz received 13,233 votes while his contender Mohamed Aslam received 9,957 votes.
87,439 members were eligible to vote in the election.
