Maldives have tried to write their own Quran mushaf since long- Islamic Minister

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that Maldivians have tried to write their own Quran mushaf since long.
Dr. Shaheem said that some those mushafs are preserved at the Center for Holy Quran but they remain unpublished as they are not written following the guidelines of writing mushafs.
However, he said that those mushafs are an important and hard work done by the people of earlier days.
Shaheem said that this alone is proof that Maldivians are a people who love Quran.
He revealed that it has been two years since efforts have been commenced to write a mushaf for Maldives. He said that the matter has been discussed with writers of Quran.
“We knew from these efforts that this will cost a lot,” he said.
Dr. Shaheem noted that mushafs are not written in the common Arabic writing styles. “There are special guidelines that should be followed,” he said.
He said that Bahrains Care Society has donated a mushaf written by them without any charge. “That text will be used in the mushaf for Maldives,” he said.
