Russian foreign minister welcomes US on Russia-Ukraine crisis

Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has welcomed US involvement in resolving the Ukraine crisis، stating that it would be a “step in right direction”، comments that appear to tone down the bilateral tensions which had been worse since the end of Cold War.
Lavrov made the remarks after a meeting in Beijing with US foreign minister John Kerry، and precede high-level meetings scheduled to take place between Russian president Vladimir Putin and world leaders at Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) summit in China.
In a statement، Lavrov quoted saying “Our positions on what is happening in Ukraine do not correspond with the United States، but if Washington is interested in contributing to the reconciliation of the situation and creating dialogue between Kiev and the rebel leadership… I think that would be a step in the right direction،”
Lavrov’s US counterpart، Kerry had confirmed that US has agreed with Moscow on information exchanging regarding the Russia-Ukraine border situation.
Moscow shot down the claims by Ukraine and the West that they are arming the pro-Kremling seperatists who are seeking secession from the former Soviet country.
