Amal Clooney، the member of former president Mohamed Nasheed’s international lawyers team، has visited the Attorney General’s Office to meet with the Attorney General Uz. Mohamed Anil today.
Along with Amal، Nasheed’s lawyers Hisaan Hussain and Hassan Latheef have also visited the AG Office.
Though no further details on the meeting were disclosed، Lawyer Hassan Latheef told Raajje.mv that the meeting proceeded smoothly، and added that a press conference will be held on Thursday to brief on the meeting.
President’s Office has previously said that Attorney General Uz. Mohamed Anil will be meeting with the international lawyers team of Nasheed، on behalf of the Government.
Meanwhile، Amal Clooney visited Maafushi Prison on Tuesday to meet with the former president Mohamed Nasheed. According to Amal، Nasheed is ‘hopeful for the condition of Maldives’ and urged the public not to lose hope.
Legal team mebers Hisan and Latheef visited the Prison along with Amal.
Nasheed’s Office informs that Amal and Jared arrived in Maldives to hold meetings with former President Nasheed’s lawyers and heads of the government، about the 13 year jail sentence on Nasheed on terror charges. Their trip is also in relation with the presentation of President Nasheed’s sentencing issue to U.N’s Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
According to Nasheed’s Office، Amal Clooney and Jared Genser will be working in Maldives until the 10th of this month.
