The Criminal Court has issued an order to the Prosecutor General to file a case within three days, against the Chief of Defence Force and all persons involved in the arrest of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed.
The Criminal Court’s order follows sections (4), (8) and (10) of the act (4a) which protects respect for the judicial system, and says that the Prosecutor General is ordered to file a case against Moosa Ali Jaleel and all persons involved in the arrest of Chief Judge of Criminal Court Al-Ustaz Abdulla Mohamed within three days as this arrest was made in violation of the law and is disrespectful to the judicial system of the Maldives.
MNDF acknowledged today the order by the Supreme Court demanding the immediate release of Judge Abdulla. However the National Defence Force has not acted on this order yet.
Judge Abdulla was arrested last night while he was at home with his family. He was taken away by five MNDF vehicles consisting of a group of military officers.
