"Our government will not have different class of citizens" – President

The government will not classify first-class citizens and second-class citizens according President Abdulla Yameen Abdul-Gayoom.
Speaking lastnight، on the occasion of Fenaka enacting the provision of generators to various atolls، President stated that he and the government does not discriminate between Male’ and remaining atolls. He also emphasized that every Maldivian، is a country’s citizen no matter the time or place.
President stated that some news agencies have tried to justify claims that government was discriminating between the atolls and Male’.
“I’ve recently come across News medias trying to prove that we differenciate or discriminate the atolls compared to the Capital. I would say، such claims hold value and such work is based on empty grounds” President stated.

With this، he also mentioned that developing Hulhumale’ and construction of the bridge is not solely for providing housing facilities and accommodation to Male’ based residents.
“Our government will not have first-class citizens and second-class citizens. Because every citizen is a first class citizen” President Yameen said speaking lastnight on the occasion. In addition to this he also stated that “the government does not discriminate the atolls and a citizen of Maldives will always be a citizen no matter the time and place. Discrimination of atolls is a story of the past. We have moved beyond that now”.
He also noted that the strategies and plans laid out by government will prove beneficial to every citizen of Maldives، while also highlighting that creation of bridge is not just narrowed for helping Male’ based citizens، but for everyone. President Yameen also said the economy will see a boom if Hulhumale’ is linked to Male’ via the bridge.
