Home Minister Umar Naseer has said that the hate speech of the people should not be the concern but rather the concern should be that the reasons for such hatred remains unrectified.
Umar Naseer made this remark speaking at the ceremony held to celebrate the 82nd anniversary of Maldives Police Service.
Umar Naseer said that the Police with their proud blue uniforms should be between the praise and criticism of the people.
“The accusations are that you are unable to stop crimes such as murder. When crimes are perpetrated in Male’ streets then waves of criticism of the people will be directed towards you. And when the Police help save the life of a person trying to commit suicide by drowning then the people will praise the efforts of the Police. So you are between praise and criticism of the people,” he said.
He said that the truth that all should accept is that not all accusations and criticism are politically motivated. He said that many such people who make such remarks are those whom false information have been given.
