President and Chief Scout, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the Scout Association of Maldives, its volunteers, and the wider Scout family. He made this assurance during a ceremony held at the President’s Office, where he was presented with the World Scout Badge and conferred the President’s Scout Award.
Reflecting on his own experience as a Scout during his school years, the President highlighted the urgent need for a dedicated facility for the Scout Association. He expressed concern over the organisation’s ongoing relocation between inadequate buildings, stressing that such arrangements are unsustainable.
President Dr Muizzu commended the Scout movement for its outstanding contributions over the past 69 years, noting its consistent support to the nation, from everyday initiatives to major national emergencies.
At the ceremony, the President of the Scout Association of Maldives, Mr Mohamed Nazeef, formally presented the World Scout Badge to President Dr Muizzu. The President, in turn, conferred the President’s Scout Award upon seven recipients and handed over letters of appointment to eight newly appointed members of the Scout Council.
In celebration of National Scout Day, President Dr Muizzu also shared a message on his official X account, extending greetings to both former and current members of the Scout movement. He recognised the invaluable role played by Scouts in national service and commended their ongoing efforts to foster unity and social responsibility throughout the Maldives.
