Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Bin Hamidi has assured positive consideration on medical visa for Maldivians.
The Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs made this remark during his meeting with the High Commissioner of Maldives to Malaysia Mohamed Fayaz.
During the Call, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the High Commissioner recalled the friendly ties that exist between Maldives and Malaysia and thanked the Government of Malaysia for the facilitation of dependent visa for parents of undergraduate students from Maldives.
High Commissioner's request to increase the number of dependent visas to two parents was also immediately approved the Minister.
The High Commissioner noted that over the years Malaysia has become a preferred educational destination for Maldivian students and the positive development in the visa regime would allow parents to provide greater support to students during their studies.
The High Commissioner also underlined that a proposal was made to provide 90 day visa on arrival for Maldivians travelling to Malaysia, on a reciprocal basis which was also favorably accepted by the Minister.
High Commission is working on finalizing the visa waiver agreement as soon as possible. Both discussed on ways of improving tourism between both countries while Minister assured positive consideration on medical visa for Maldivians.
The Minister also expressed his commitment to resolve and finalize all proposed visa related issues.
Further discussions were also held on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries including in the areas of immigration, prison services and police services. Both further discussed their keenness to work in the field of moderation and anti-terrorism.
In conclusion they highlighted the warm ties of friendship between the two countries.
