Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said the costs for Hajj trips will be lowered for Maldivians travelling to Saudi Arabia to attend pilgrimage.
In a tweet he sent on Wednesday night، Minister Shaheem said it is a very happy news that lowering the costs of Hajj trips، which will bring immense easiness for the Maldivians.

On Thursday، Government have endorsed Rf 69،965 to be the highest amount to be taken from the pilgrims.
994 people have departed to Saudi Arabia to attend Hajj this year from the 1000 quota Maldives have received. The remaining 6 are senior officials of Al’Fathuh Hajj Group who were abstained from going to Hajj as they have claimed they have gone “bankrupt” after taking payments from people exceeding the quota set by Islamic Ministry.
In addition، 15 more Maldivians will be attending Hajj under Saudi Government and five more will attend under Qatar Government.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathmath Ibrhaim will be departing to Saudi Arabia to attend Hajj on 26th September.
