Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced a special programme to assist taxpayers in filing income tax returns.
MIRA said the Income Tax Assistance Program 2025 will commence from Sunday on 6 April and will be carried out until 15 June.
The target audience of the programme are taxpayers who are required to submit a tax return for the year 2024, with a total income of USD648,508 or below, and who have opted to prepare financial statements on "cash basis".
The programme will be conducted through telephone, email or other online means, MIRA said.
Generally, any income earned by an individual is subject to income tax. Residents of the Maldives are taxed on their worldwide income, whereas non-residents and temporary residents are taxed on the income derived from the Maldives only.
