The Minister of Foreign Affairs، Ms. Dhunya Maumoon has met with her Chinese counterpart Mr. Wang Yi، at Kurumba Village on Monday evening.
During this meeting، Minister Dunya welcomed the Chinese Foreign Minister to the Maldives and acknowledged the important role that China has played and continued to play in the development of the Maldives. Minister Wang reiterated the support of continued assistance to the Maldives for its development، and in areas of mutual interest.
The two Ministers exchanged views on further strengthening and expanding the strong bonds of friendship between the two countries and agreed to hold the first meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation at the earliest.
Minister Wang visiting Maldives as part of Chinese President Xi’s delegation in the first visit by a Chinese president to Maldives since diplomatic relations started between the two countries.
