Maldives has opened an embassy in the German capital, Berlin.
According to the foreign ministry, the embassy was officially opened by foreign minister Dr. Mohamed Asim.
The embassy will enable stronger bilateral ties between Maldives and Germany and help boost Maldivian tourism industry, foreign ministry said.
It is noteworthy that Germany is one of the main contributors to tourists arrivals in Maldives from Europe.
Minister Asim's visit to Germany comes after his participation at the 71st United Nations General Assembly, which began in New York on September 13.
