State appeals Criminal Court verdict on Nabeel at Supreme Court

State appeals death sentence on Mohamed Nabeel of G. Reef at the Supreme Court. The state filed the appeal when the convict failed to file an appeal at the Supreme Court.
Nabeel was found guilty of stabbing Abdulla Farhad of Liliymaage, S. Hulhudhoo in March 2009, and was sentenced to death in 2010 by the Criminal Court.
Five years after the case was appealed at High Court, the court upheld the Criminal Court’s verdict on March 25, 2015. Nabeel’s lawyer however maintained that due to the delay, his client’s rights have been violated.
Two other people were charged with the murder of Abdulla Farhad. However, they were acquitted of those charges. However, they were both found guilty of another offence and sentenced to four years in jail, each.
