Friday sermon to be delivered in English, DLA angered

A conflict of opinions erupted between Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and Dhivehi Language Academy (DLA) President Ashraf Ali following the Islamic Ministry's decision to deliver the Friday sermon in English tomorrow.
American scholar Dr Abu Ammaar Yasir Qadhi is set to deliver the Friday sermon at the Islamic Center tomorrow. Following the Ministry's decision, Ashraf noted that is concerns the Academy and that it goes against the spirit of the Constitution.
"This is an insult to a whole era" He said "though we do not mind sermons being delivered in English during gatherings."
The Ministry has already made arrangements to deliver a translated version of the sermon. However, Ashraf said that Dhivehi language should be given priority instead of English. He noted that the issue would be forwarded to relevant authorities and hopes that a solution would be brought to the issue.
