The President has awarded a special Presidents Medal to 11 students who topped the global list of top scorers in last years Ed excel A Level Examinations.
The Presidents medal was introduced at the ceremony held by the government to recognize high scorers in last years A Level exams. It was personally handed to the 11 top scorers by President Yameen himself.
State Education Minister Dr. Abdullah Nazeer revealed details statistics about last years A Level results.
He noted that out of the 11 students who topped the global list of top scorers 7 had scored the highest in A Level Accounting. He also revealed that out of the 1,825 students who took part 60 percent were female and 40 percent were male.
Also out of the 126 students who placed in the national top ten 57 percent were female and the remaining 43 percent were male.
Dr. Nazeer noted that overall performance in the science stream had fallen while performance in the commerce stream remained steady at the same level. Performance in the subject of Islam had increased by 2.4 percent.
Maldivian students sit for the Ed excel A Level exams every year. Meanwhile the Dhivehi Language and Islam exams are administered by the Education Ministry itself.
