A trailer for the biography Portuguese professional footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been released.
The film's website's official synopsis describes it as "the first official and fully authorized film of one of the most celebrated figures in football." It also promises "astonishing insight into the sport and personal life" of Ronaldo "with unprecedented access into the inner circle of the man and the sport."
The film is made by the same people who had made ‘Senna’, considered by many to be the greatest sports documentary ever made, about the late Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna.
Although the sub-genre of soccer cinema is not known for gaining box office hits, with movies such as the “Goal” trilogy and Sepp Blatter’s vanity project, “United Passions” earning less than 1,000 dollars stateside. There have been critically-acclaimed features like “Heleno”, and ‘Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait’
"Ronaldo" was shot over the course of 14 months, and begins with the story of the sports-star leaving his small town as a boy to pursue his dream in the city. It also shows his relationship with his father, and his son.
