President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his Administration’s commitment to ensuring greater representation for women and youth in decision-making processes, pledging to amplify all Maldivian voices at every level of governance.
The President made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X, in observance of the International Day of Democracy, marked annually on September 15. Highlighting the importance of inclusive democratic governance, President Muizzu emphasized the role of youth and women in shaping national development and policy, stating that the future of the Maldives depends on inclusive participation.
In his message, the President also expressed solidarity with oppressed people around the world, particularly reaffirming support for the Palestinian people, underscoring the Maldives' long-standing stance on global human rights and justice.
The International Day of Democracy, established by the UN General Assembly in 2007, commemorates the 1997 Universal Declaration on Democracy adopted by the Inter-Parliamentary Union. It serves as a global reminder of the value of democratic principles, civic engagement, and accountability in governance.
