Nasheed has no official capacity other than that as a member of MDP: Dr Didi

Dr Ibrahim Didi has said that former President Mohamed Nasheed has no capacity in Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) other than that of a member of MDP.
Dr Didi made this statement in a special interview for the 46th edition of Sun Magazine, which comes out tomorrow.
Dr Didi said that according the MDP basic regulations, Nasheed is the same as any other member of MDP, and that the party should act according to its basic regulations.
When asked about the day that the government changed, Dr Didi said that Nasheed did not consult him in his capacity as party President. He did however meet with the cabinet and informed them of his resignation, at which point Dr Didi had immediately told him that that he did not support that decision. He noted that he was not aware that Nasheed was being forced to resign; it was not until much later that Nasheed mentioned that he had been forced to tender his resignation.
Dr Didi said that he does not accept removal from MDP leadership through the no-confidence vote at the MDP National Congress. He said that he is still the official President of the party, and that he will work according to democratic principles and the party’s basic regulations to get the party back on the right track.
“I believe that I am officially still the President of MDP. I was elected with the votes of thousands of people. They trusted me to uphold the party’s basic rules. I will continue to do that,” Dr Didi said.
Dr Didi added that MDP Interim Chairperson Reeko Moosa Manik’s only capacity in the party is also that of a party member. There was no document to support that he is the party’s interim chairperson.
When asked if President Nasheed was ousted through a coup, Dr Didi said that that can only be determined after investigation by an impartial institution.
