Education Minister، Dr. Aishath Shiham has said that if the seniors، parents and students of all schools work together unitedly، then all the students sitting for the O Level examinations will pass from five subjects.
Speaking at the ceremony held yesterday in Maldives Polytechnic to conclude the workshop aimed at principals of K. Atoll schools، to figure out the areas to give importance under the education policy of “no child gets left behind”، Education Minister said that among the students who sit for O Level examinations، not only 60 percentage of students will pass، rather 100% will.
“[60% is] Doing something for every six students out of 10 and finding a way through vocational training to the other 4 students”، said Minister.
The two day workshop started by Maldives Polytechnic is to increase the number of students passing in O Level examinations till 2017 and to discuss about ways to improve the results of students.
This workshop which began as a pilot project targeted for principals of K. Atoll schools، principals from a total of 9 schools in the atoll attended this workshop.
Principals who participated in this training said that the training was very useful.
Speaking about this workshop، Deputy Minister of Education، Sheryna Abdul Samad said that a second workshop of this kind will be conducted very soon، targeted for principals of L. Atoll schools.
She said that depending on the success of these workshops، more such workshops will be conducted for principals of schools of other atolls of Maldives as well.
"If everyone works together، all students doing O Levels will pass from 5 subjects"
