The Indian television actor, anchor and dancer who won Maldivian hearts in his role in the Indian soap opera 'Kumkum' will host the show with local TV presenter Aminath Namza. Famed Pakistani singer Atif Aslam will be performing in the opening show with several local artists. Aslam will be performing on the second night of the opening shows held December 30 – 31 at Alimas Carnival in capital Malé. Police said said the singer would be provided high security. Police would only allow 7,500 people into the show. Chief police inspector Ismail Shameem told Haveeru that everyone would undergo security checks at the entrance. President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will officially launch the "Vist Maldives Year 2016" during a special ceremony slated for Wednesday. Visit Maldives Year 2015 also featured famed Indian sibling singing duo Salim-Sulaiman’s performances during the show, which received a lot of public support. Visit Maldives Year 2016 is organised by the tourism ministry with main partner Public Service Media (PSM).
