President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Narendra Modi, following Cyclone Vardah that occurred in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh of South India.
The President’s message reads as follows:
“I am saddened to learn of the loss of lives and injury to many more, as well as the widespread damages and devastation caused by Cyclone Vardah in Southern India, particularly in Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.”
“At this time of national distress, the Government and the people of the Maldives express our heartfelt sympathy to you, the Government and the people of India, and to those who are being directly affected by the cyclone.”
“Please also convey our sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families.”
