The hearing of Ex-President Nasheed at the Criminal Court was stopped as the defence lawyers of Nasheed refrained from entering into the courtroom for the hearing.
The legal team of Ex-President Nasheed submitted a letter to the Criminal Court tonight، stating they were not given enough time to evaluate the documentary evidences against Nasheed.
The presiding bench stated a hearing will be tabled for tomorrow evening، and the hearing ‘will continue despite the whether or not the defence lawyers are present’.
The court further referred to the letter submitted by the legal team، after 8pm tonight، and stated enough time was granted، and the documentary evidences were previously presented to the legal team.
Ex-President Nasheed was summoned to the Criminal Court tonight for the hearing of his trial.
Nasheed is pressed with terrorism charges by the State، for the unlawful detaining and isolating of the Criminal Court Chief Judge Abdulla ‘Gaazee’ Mohamed in 2012.
The hearing was originally tabled at 16:00 today، however، the court postponed the hearing to give time for the defence attorneys to evaluate the evidence.
