Police Commissioner Abdullah Riyaz has requested all men in the Police Specialist Operations division to be very careful to utilize minimum force in all situations where they are forced to use it.
Speaking in a meeting held at the Police Iskandharu Building last night, CP Riyaz noted that the Specialist Operations Division of the police had always carried out a very important role in keeping law and order in the country. He said that the police should always weigh the circumstances in which they are working, and should be diligent in applying only necessary force.
Riyaz said that the police should observe the same standard of minimum use even when confronting the most violent and disobedient individuals.
Riyaz also met the Commanders assigned to manage security measures during the protests to be started today by the former ruling Maldivian Democratic Party. In a meeting held today afternoon, Riyaz requested the Commanders to observe their professional ethics and standards in handling all situations.
